ABOUT SOTA

The Southern Ontario Twirling Association (SOTA) is more than just a performance group—we are a movement. Rooted in the vibrant art of colour guard and flag spinning, SOTA brings people together to celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity, and advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights through powerful and expressive performances.

OUR MISSION

SOTA believes in the power of artistic expression as a tool for advocacy, visibility, and celebration. Through dynamic flag-spinning routines, we engage with our communities, participate in Pride parades and events, and foster a welcoming environment where all individuals — regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or background — can find a sense of belonging.

What We Do

  • Promote Inclusivity & Diversity – We use our performances to advocate for equality and create safe spaces for everyone.
  • Support LGBTQIA+ Pride – We actively participate in Pride parades and other events that align with our values of justice and solidarity.
  • Encourage Physical & Artistic Expression – Flag spinning combines fitness, coordination, and teamwork, fostering both personal and collective growth.
  • Educate & Inspire – We raise awareness about the cultural significance of flag spinning and its role in celebrating identity, resilience, and unity.

Whether you’re an experienced twirler or someone looking for a supportive and vibrant community, SOTA welcomes you with open arms. Join us as we spin, twirl, and march forward — together.
